Gateway Communities and Invasive Species
As the home to our organization & a highly sought gateway community, we understand the importance of minimizing impacts from recreation.
Park County presents an opportunity for great impact and reach. The area is treasured by Montanans and visitors alike as it provides highly accessible recreational opportunities and breathtaking sights. Without responsible recreation, the risk of invasive species introduction and spread is high. Together, we can protect Park County’s resources and residents from terrestrial and aquatic species invasions now and into the future.
What is Responsible Recreation?
Choosing to recreate responsibly means that you are dedicated to natural resource stewardship. You are recreating in ways that have less impact on the environment and less disruption to other users. In terms of invasive species prevention, this means you are taking steps to make sure you aren’t moving or introducing invasive species to the environments in which you are recreating.
Practicing responsible recreation is important no matter where you’re recreating as it helps to ensure the space is there for others for years to come.
